Wow.

That's pretty much all I have to say at the moment.

I went to my very first gay rodeo today and I absolutely loved it. Brad visited Mecca, y'all.

The LA Rodeo is today and tomorrow with assorted parties thrown here and there.

Just the idea that all these men were gay and hot and cowboys made my heart absolutely swell.

Yes, it was 10,000 degrees F in Thousand Oaks. Yes, I got a really funky farmer's tan from sitting in the sun for six hours. Yes, I came home cowboyless. Yes, some of these boys shouldn't have opened their mouths (looking like Montgomery Clift on the outside and sounding like Charles Nelson Riley when they talked...) :D Yes, I shouldn't have been there being completely and totally broke right now. But I had a great time. Next year it should be some sort of LoT swanking.

There was one intense moment when during one of the events, a cowboy's saddle broke and he fell under his horse. But luckily, he wasn't trampled. But a part of the saddle was still on the horse and it made the horse furious. He ran kicking across the field and then he crashed into one of the fences. He was then loose in the horse trail area behind the event. Pretty scary. But the rider and horse were all checked by first aid (human and horse) and they were fine.

There was this one cowboy there that just made me melt. Hot. From Sacramento or something, thin drink of water. But man, he was a blessing to see in tight jeans.

I wish I had my camera, but for the life of me I can't find mine. It's somewhere around here...

Next year, I'm totally going to volunteer or something.

Color me happy, y'all.
:)

It's not a gay rodeo, but Maddy's got connections to the Poway rodeo here in September. I'm trying to convince her to do barrel racing. She's done the national anthem three times but she doesn't want to do it this year.

Aren't all rodeos gay?

Hahahah, I didn't know it was in Thousand Oaks! When I got your text, I had just come from T.O., where my thermometer told me it was 113 degrees at high noon!! (It was a balmy 103 at my destination in Alhambra).

Now I'm not particularly into cowboys ... but even I find the idea of a gay rodeo really hot. But, alas, too hot for me to have spent another minute in Thousand Oaks today. Eeee Gads.

I'll go to the Poway rodeo! ;)

Dear All,

I hope you are remembering to drink plenty of water - 110 fvcking degrees ! Just stuff a turkey under the car hood with a tray of green bean casserole and you can prepare dinner while you drive...

So now who's thinking of Yosemite next April???

You can always make yourself warmer, but there are only so many clothes yah can strip off...

Love and hugs,

The Stoat XXX.

I can't wait until next year.

Do they have to have it in June? I'd like to go, too. But not if it's 113 degrees. Pffft, the event would make me hot enough, thank you.

It sounds like a hot time, in more ways than one;)

Although you should bring the camera next time so you can look back on the fond memories and tight asses!

Wow. Sounds like something that was definitely up your alley, GC. I didn't know they had gay rodeos but then again I had no idea there were gay cowboys before a few years ago. Thanks for sharing your experience with us! :)

Agreed. And, of course, I found my camera last night. Too late. Too late.

I can't wait until next time. I'm thinking of volunteering next year. Either that, or save up for the whole package: both rodeo days, the before and after parties and the awards ceremony.

There is no way I'd suffer through that kind of heat to see a rodeo - even a gay one.

Ok... Maybe if the guys were all naked.....

Actually, I think cowboys are way sexier in jeans ... and nothing else. But sexier than naked.

That's just me, perhaps.

The sexiest part about cowboys (at least some of the ones I've met) is that they're down to earth. None of this phony WeHo crap I keep seeing. Bleh.

I also liked seeing the cowboys who were from out of state. Texas, New Mexico, Arizona... I guess I'm growing weary of L.A. Who knows?

I'm thinking of volunteering next year. They accept volunteers? You should probably start petitioning now. I can only imagine the ensuing catfight ;)

No, it's just you like seeing them in the rough;) After they've been in LA for a while they turn into something else, a little more polished maybe.

I'll agree there are some hot cowboys out there. Have you ever seen a Colorado or Wyoming cowboy, yep they're pretty boys!

Tight jeans are nice, but I prefer to see what's under them. ;)

Sheesh, was everybody in TO this weekend??? I hope y'all waved at me when you passed through. I'm sad that I didn't know the rodeo was in town. I'd have gone; I like the bullriding.

Next year.
:)

I'm still bumming that I missed WeHo Pride this year and the cowboy pavilion they had. Last year's cowboy round up was so very awesome.
