Al announced the following:

It appears that entertainment honcho Anne Hamburger will soon be leaving Disney to "spend more time with family." One of the last relics of the Pressler era, her haughty/artsy attitude won her no friends in Anaheim once Harriss left. Her recent pitch to Team Disney Anaheim executives for a Narnia show in DCA's MuppetVision theater that had the audience entering the auditorium by walking through a giant wardrobe pushing their way in through hanging faux furs left the suits stunned in disbelief.

She must have no idea what millions of people do to/in a queue area. This shows how out of touch she is with a theme park. I hope her replacement can put a shot in the arm in the shows at Disneyland.

leaving Disney to "spend more time with family."

Isn't that the same line that was printed in Cynthia Harris' letter of resignation ?

Yay! The 'cheeseburger' is gone ! :)

Yeah, that's the standard line for Disney. It's as cliched as the producers giving a character a brain tumor when they want that actor off of their soap opera. :)

I just don't understand the furor over entering a Narnia show through a wardrobe. That sounds like a rather good idea to me.

(Pushing through clothes may be a little much, but no further out of line than most of the pie-in-the-sky artist concepts that never make it to the finished attraction.)

First McDonald's french fries... then Anne Hamburger.

Coincidence?

Yeah, that's the standard line for Disney. That's a fairly standard line in corporate America as well as politics. Sounds all warm and fuzzy.

I just don't understand the furor over entering a Narnia show through a wardrobe.Would you want to be fighting your way through objects that thousands of other people (many of whom were probably sick or had different hygiene standards) had previously gone through.

I do like the idea of some kind of show using a Narnia theme....maybe something will still come of that.

I have to go with ISM on this one. What was presented (in this case) sounds like concept art. Much like Detroit builds concept cars that never make it to the showroom. The creative types lay out a vision, like entering a show via a wardrobe and it's up to the technical staff to make it fun, practical and safe. Perhaps something like the Davy Jones effect in Pirates could work...

Still all in all I'm sure she was an evil witch whose passing calls for bell ringing, dancing in the streets and copious copulation.

I'm wondering about the whole Narnia thing. Prince Caspian didn't do as well as they expected. I'm wondering if they're eventually just going to give up on it.

If Anne is responsible for the Snow White show, then hasta la vista, dinglecheese! That show was dung.

This dreckmeister needs a swift kick in the ass on the way out! Cherny knows firsthand just how incensed I get when talking about this creative black hole. Goodbye, and good riddance!

She was still there? How incompetent do you have to be before TDA will actually fire you?

Spoke with an Imagineer once who was there when she observed the big water show at DisneySea. After seeing a show that was repeatedly wowing audiences, her reaction was "this is all wrong, we've got to change it" and her explanation to the incredulous around her was that not everyone had a good view of Mickey, and that there ought to be a Mickey on EACH of the three boats used in the show...simultaneously

Good riddance to the clueless

Snow White sucked - they need to slash and burn that whole forest Fantasyland theatre to get the stench out of it. (And put the Little Mermaid ride there.)

Now, if only Disneyland would also get rid of the same plastic crap they've been selling since the Pressler era, we could have a prize with our To Go meal!

Perhaps, but the pickle has me worried!

Oh, and Zappp, don't get me started on Mickey's detective School!

Yikes, that was a nightmare!

She must have no idea what millions of people do to/in a queue area.

Ain't that the truth: recently, a Chinese guy was caught humping a park bench to the point where he became inextricably attached to the furniture...and he was out in the open.

Just imagine what folks would do in a dark space full of faux fur !!!

And just think of the qooties that one could pick up...(Stoat's body shudders, ending in tip of right toe).

Anne Hamburger can keep it in the closet. Eeeewwwe.

Love and hugs,

The Stoat XXX.

Her shows weren't to my taste, but millions of regular parkgoers loved them. She was always kind to me, and to people she worked with.

Oh, sorry. Burn the witch, robble robble. Better?

Oh come on. Cynthia Harriss and Paul Pressler were really nice also. That doesn't mean that we can't think they did crappy work.

Anybody have a list of shows she was responsible for? When I think over the list I can come up with in my head, I'm fine with most of them though staged entertainment really isn't my thing at theme parks.
