Seripop's paint and paper installations are an immersive homage to pop posters
Canadian creative duo Seripop have been collaborating for over a decade now, producing bold, brash artwork in a variety of media. Having spent over eight years designing gig posters for the great and the good of Montreal’s expansive music scene (they’re responsible for MSTRKRFT’s debut album The Looks) they’ve recently diversified their output into fine art installations, filling gallery spaces with elaborate monuments that are bursting with colour. Though the medium has changed, the aesthetic remains and entering their giant painted paper works is very much like being enveloped in swathes of crumpled pop posters.Linky (http://www.itsnicethat.com/articles/seripop)

Though they are mocking bad design, I think these posters (http://www.boredpanda.com/sharp-suits-worst-client-comment-posters/) are frelling brilliant!Frustrated by stupid client criticism, Irish graphic designers Mark Shanley and Paddy Treacy decided to turn their "favorite worst feedback" into posters. The guys worked together on so-called "Sharp Suits" series with a team of other ad creatives, designers, animators, directors, illustrators and more, who must’ve all appreciated a chance to let out some of their exasperation in a creative way. Here are a couple samples, spoilerd for size:http://bp3.uuuploads.com/sharp-suits-worst-client-comment-posters/sharp-suits-worst-client-comment-posters-12.jpghttp://bp.uuuploads.com/sharp-suits-worst-client-comment-posters/sharp-suits-worst-client-comment-posters-24.jpg

I've seen that before - many of them seem like they could be perfectly legitimate requests from customers and that the designers are just being whiny and not wanting to take input. Is "Make the logo bigger" really a horrible request?

Not that "make the logo bigger" is terrible, but if it gets paired with also requiring it not to take up any more space on the page or some other similar, absolutely contradictory request... So yeah, I can see why they mock them.

Yes, in certain contexts, ANYTHING is a horrible request. But the way these are presented, they're saying, "Can you believe someone requested this?!" as if the very idea that anyone would ever ask such a thing is ridiculous on the face of it. And a few of them just don't strike me as such. They strike me more as, "I'm the artist, I know what's best, screw what the customer who is paying me to produce something for them wants, they just don't understand." Which is sometimes true, but something tells me a good chunk of this is people not being able to take suggestions and constructive criticism.

Hey, the room with different colored lights is cool!
In my experience "make the logo bigger" isn't so much a problem on the face of it as it is just so insanely common as feedback from someone who doesn't really have anything to say but feels a need to request a change.
Also, it is often a sign that the purpose of the context in which the logo exists is being forgotten. Most of the time, your logo is not the most important thing on the page/packaging/whatever but then they'll try to size it so that it overwhelms everything else.

On the redesign issues, some of those are legitimate beefs and some are whiney designers. I'm dealing with a customer right now on some design issues that the company founder is giving his feedback on. He keeps wanting this one line of type smaller and smaller. We finally had to point put that they are looking at is an enlarged version of the logo and when you view it at the expected size, the copy is completely illegible (I think it was equivalent to 2 point).
Design by committee is always dangerous.

When I was at the Nationals game last week and I realized something. All those people wearing player jerseys... They are Cos Playing.
I agree, which is why I've attended 100 baseball games and never been seen wearing a jersey. I even have this scale:
Microdouche: Wearing a team jersey at the opponent's stadium
Decidouche: Wearing a team jersey at the home stadium
Douche: Wearing a team jersey when not at a game
Kilodouche: Wearing a team jersey during the off season
Megadouche: Wearing a team jersey during the off season outside of the team's home territory
Seriously, I am so constantly sitting in judgment of people it is amazing I have a job.

Where on the scale is going to the stadium wearing a team jersey that's not from either team playing? (I'm looking at you Yankees fans)
Petadouche
Maxes out at Yottadouche and that would be someone wearing an Indians jersey while saying "What!? How could anybody find our logo offensive?", anybody wearing any jersey while doing a tomahawk chop, or the Redskins fans who answered a poll recently saying they thought Redskin was the appropriate way to refer to Native Americans.
And when you see one of these people you ar morally required to point at them and say in your best Yakov Smirnoff impersonation: "that's a whole yottadouche!"

I don't think wearing a baseball team's jersey or cap qualifies as Cos Playing because you're not pretending to be a character. I think that's true even if the jersey has a particular player's name or number on it. The baseball fandom is more team loyalty driven. Wearing a jersey is just like waving a flag.
Football, basketball, soccer, the thing on the ice that used to matter: they're all more superstar driven, so I can see a Cos Play element in jersey wearing with those sports. I would add that baseball is more of a regular guy sort of sport. The superstars don't come of as having super powers. I could wear a Pablo Sandoval jersey without feeling as gosh darn ridiculous--not to mention a little gay--as I would if I wore a Colin Kaepernick jersey.
I disagree!
And by the rules of the game that means I'm right. Jersey=Douche. Doesn't mean the douche isn't a very nice person.
And to pre-emptively answer Kevy's question: Either state or clothing.

Wearing a jersey is just like waving a flag. There are levels to cosplay, and I think dressing like a hero to show your support for those heroes falls well within it. The ones that get press are the full-on LARPers, but many people wearing tributes are doing it with the same feeling in mind as sports fans.
I would add that baseball is more of a regular guy sort of sport. The superstars don't come of as having super powers. Have you looked at these guys lately? They are monsters. Highly specialized, disproportionate bodies magnified by surgery upgrades. Any one of them could take on an entire 1930's football team. They throw objects at 100 miles per hour, or are able to hit objects thrown at 100 miles per hour, with surprising regularity. Seems to me that's just as crazy as anything done in basketball, football, hockey, soccer...

Other variations (http://www.torggler.co.at/main/film.html?v=R582RzPmnMQ)
Creaky floors, however, are eternal.
As a serious criticism, while visually cool it really only serves a doors purpose if that purpose is binary: completely open or completely closed. It doesn't really have any of the benefits that doors are able to provide when partially opened or partially closed.
But visually cool in a way that if you actually put it in your house would then provide laughs for whoever buys the house 25 years later.

Things like that have been going around a lot lately.
And while I admire the ingenuity of individual pieces all I end up thinking with that stuff is how it means lviing like you're changing hotel rooms every couple hours. You can never just get comfortable in your space and have to live constantly constrained in how you can move and having to be impeccably clean and organized because you can't go to bed until everything is put away and the kitchen can be unfolded into your bedroom.
Essentially it is like living in an RV that doesn't go anywhere.

I like the chairs that hang on the wall as art. I like the fold-down key shelf. I like the fold-down guest bed/work desk.
I like a lot of the space-saving things, for pieces I don't often use. For my bed, and my couch, the things I use all the time, I'd rather not have it be either multi-use or folding.

There's enough room in there to add a power strip, and it's also go the USB ports, so that adds to the versatility beyond 2 plugs. But if you start adding that much stuff, kinda defeats the "hidden" aspect as you're just going to have a tangle of cords sticking out and a pile of electronics.
The question I have is where is the power cord that powers those outlets?

Obviously it's hidden behind the one leg in the photo, but I do wonder if they went to the trouble to hide the cord all the way to the floor or if it just sticks out the back where you can't see it in the photo. I'm guessing it just sticks out the back.
