I figure if we can have lolcats and YouTube threads, why not have a Fail thread.

Here's one to start the ball rolling. Check out this guy's name (http://failblog.org/2009/02/10/name-fail-3/).

I work with one of Verizon's B2B telemarking units and we sometimes monitor calls. This Verizon fail (http://failblog.org/2009/02/04/verizon-math-fail/) really doesn't surprise me.

I could actually feel pain for this guy. My neck was getting all tense just listening to the stupidity on the other end of the line.

Okay, not technically a Fail, but it is a Microsoft inanity.

In typing an email (in Outlook using Word as my editor), I typed the sentence, "Attached are the [item 1], [item 2], and [item 3] for the..."

Since I leave the spelling and grammar check mode on, it put a green squiggly line under "are" (the second word in the sentence). The suggested fix was to change "are" to "is." I accepted the change.

Now the word "is" had a green squiggly line under it. The suggested fix?

"are"

There is a lot of online chat about the proposal being staged, with the intent that the footage will go viral and provide the team or broadcasters with some free publicity. It could be.

Some of my friends who wear rubber heads for a living have presided over proposals in the parks that ended up with a refusal. D'oh! That would suck. (And if it happens, Mickey still has a great big happy smile plastered on his face.)

Ron, are you sure it's Portland and not Seattle? The TV Station logo is King5 - I KNOW that's not Portland, but thought it was Seattle.

And it's mis-titled - it's ICE driving fail, not snow driving fail!

In the comments section below the "Child Safety Fail" posted by Szerbiac, I found this gem:

"I did some work for Disney, in the offices at the fabled Disneyland (behind the scenes, so to speak). I think the company motto is “The beatings shall continue until moral improves.” Ah, Disneyland. 1 security guy for every 5 tourists.
And DisneyWorld! My sister goes there a lot. They have 4 kids and one time she was there a security type told her to keep a close eye on her kids because at any one time there would be 3 child abduction rings working the park. If your kid comes up missing they usher you into a room with like 50 security monitors so you can try to spot your kid being whisked away.
I went to the Disney store in W. L.A. one time, and asked the girl behind the counter, “What’s it like working for the rat?” She looked around furtively and asked, “Which one?” True."

Wow. Three child abduction rings working the park!? I'm astounded at how this manages to elude the Mainstream Media.

I wonder if someone will get into trouble for it. The whole beginning was a quick flurry of song after song after song from different shows. In my opinion, Michaels was not supposed to stand there and take bows after his portion was done. The rest of the band members hauled ass outta there. Michaels looked like he was trying to soak up some applause for his lip synced efforts.
lol

Poison was there because their music is featured in the musical "Rock of Ages".

Kevy Baby
06-08-2009, 05:06 PM
But shouldn't the stage personnel be watching for a situation such as this so that when this kind of situation happens, the artist doesn't get bonked on the head even though he/she missed his/her que?

Based on what I saw, I don't have any sympathy for Michaels. But I suspect that the ego of Michaels will supersede the fact that he missed his mark

Gemini Cricket

I'm not sure how this high tech Broadway-type show worked but it is possible that the flat was being flow in and out mechanically. By the way the other two band members fled, it looked like they were given the note to clear double-quick.

I didn't know where to post the following, so I'll call it a "knowledge fail."

Buzz Lightyear 'first man on moon' some believe

Some people believe that Buzz Lightyear, the fictional cartoon character from the film "Toy Story," was the first man on the moon.

In a survey, which reveals "deeply worrying" levels of ignorance about the Apollo space programme, which sent three men to the moon forty years ago this month, 11 out of 1009 people surveyed thought Buzz Lightyear was the first person to step onto the moon.

A further 8 people thought it was Louis Armstrong, with less than three-quarters correctly answering that it was Neil Armstrong.

The survey, undertaken on behalf of E&T magazine, published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, also revealed that over a quarter of all people do not believe the astronauts actually landed on the moon.

You can read the entire article HERE (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/scienceandtechnology/science/space/5768296/Buzz-Lightyear-first-man-on-moon-some-believe.html).

Sounds like they think they've won the lawsuit lotto:
The Longueira family wants more than get well wishes. They may sue. Alexa's mother, Kim, said: "It could have been an elderly person, a mother pushing a stroller. It could have been anyone."

Alexa lost one of her sneakers in the sewer. She does not want it back.

The girl's mother said Alexa will see more doctors next week to get an MRI and check for damage to her spine.

I'm pretty sure that a wide open hole is a pretty good warning in and of itself.

Morrigoon

Haha, I didn't see that coming (sorta like dip and her manhole, right?)

Yes, I'd expect it to be marked. However, marking it is a stop-gap measure to increase visibility. Essential on obstacles which are less visible (soap spill on a tile floor, for example), and helpful on obvious but more dangerous obstacles such as an open hole in the ground. And it still requires the person to notice it. Had it been coned and she walked into it anyway, you'd be hearing her angry it wasn't taped off.

Yet, surprisingly, the human race managed to survive prior to the invention of the orange cone.

It actually looks like Epcot...not Disneyland at all.

Meta-fail!

But honestly, that seems like ordinary play by costumed characters, though usually done by "villains."

Definitely Florida... we don't have an awning like that one in the background.

Hee hee. I thought her friend's name read Debbie Kirkwood Action. Which, if true, would make me think the whole thing was legit.

Love this Whole Foods. Best in Boston area. However, the carrots are too pointy and long. It's intimidating. Can you shorten them and make them less scary?

It isn't a good story unless it has baby carrots at the front. Maybe a childrens author has made the mistake of putting that baby carrots at the end or, even worse, in the middle. Maurice Sendak finally achieved success when he put the baby carrot on the cover.

For SczerbiakManiac: News on the fail of Westboro wingnuts.

The Westboro protest ended earlier than planned.
As school let out this afternoon, picketers from Westboro Baptist Church, a scabrously anti-gay group from Topeka, gathered outside Brooklyn Tech to spread the gospel found on their site godhatesfags.com and, according to their schedule (since updated), to “teach the rebels of Brooklyn what good looks like, and you had better behave.”
But outnumbered by nearly 200 Tech students, the Westboro protesters, escorted by police officers, left the corner of Fort Greene Place and Fulton Street at 3:45, 15 minutes earlier than scheduled. (The protest had been slated for 3:20 p.m. to 4 p.m.)
Five members of the group, including one child, brought signs that said “You’re Going to Hell,” danced and shouted anti-gay slogans as they stood on the street corner around 3 p.m. this afternoon.
Brian Benavides, a Brooklyn Tech student, said news of the Westboro protest had been spread among his classmates by word of mouth and through Facebook status. The alert evolved into a counter protest.

It took me a second to follow it (the redacted names make it a little hard to read), but to clarify, the first paragraph of Bill's 2nd comment is him apparently quoting something Amanda had posted previously. So to summarize the transaction:

Amanda: I got screwed at school because I missed the first week
Bill: Then don't miss the first week
Amanda: I was at my grandma's funeral you insensitive asshole!!
Bill: Bitch, you publicly posted that you were on vacation, mentioning specifically the first week of school.
