And the Father of the Year Award goes to...

Man fined for buckling in beer, leaving kid loose
Police 'shocked and appalled' after Australian leaves 5-year-old on car floor

DARWIN, Australia - An Australian man has been fined after buckling in a case of beer with a seat belt but leaving a 5-year-old child to sit on the car’s floor, police said Tuesday.
The whole story.

I heard about that this morning on the radio. They actually did a story on this on either House or Grey's Anatomy this season.

Cadaverous Pallor 05-15-2008 11:11 AM

Yeech. Why do they have to tell the world about this? TMI.

The whole story.

Sounds like a typical American beer commercial with a small print disclaimer at the bottom.

If it was House then I think the issue in question was chimerism which is a somewhat different thing (and within a year House, CSI, and Crossing Jordan all did shows where chimerism was the gimmick so I assume something happened to make it news in the 12 months prior to that).

In reading about this stories type of thing (fetus in fetu) on Wikipedia just now I was surprised to see it is as common at 1 in 500,000 briths. Remember that list of number of babies born in various countries each year? Well, that means this happens in India about 50 times a year. Neat.

Also at the Wikipedia page you can find reference to a 7 year old Kazakhstan boy referred to a doctor when something appeared to be moving in his stomach.

Im gonna go with "not my style"

Meh, they are just trying to make a living. They don't need to be the butt of our jokes. I see no need to probe any deeper into this issue. Sure it's a bit asinine but I say we just put this one behind us, pack this fudge product into the commode of our collective conscience and flush it.
