personally and from past experience, wait to paint.

trust me on this. THE most careful folks in the world WILL mess up your nice clean paint job, especially doing counters, cabinets and/or floors.

IMO...just wait, you'll be glad you did.

Yeah, I know that's the smart thing to do.

I guess, then, the deicssion is, unpack stuff into the cabinets now only to have to repack it all later, or just live out of boxes in the kitchen for a couple weeks.

Unpack the stuff you will use on a daily basis and live out of boxes otherwise.

I'd wait to paint. I'd also unpack the stuff into the cabinets, that's easier than hunting through boxes.

Although if you're going to paint the ceiling, do that now. It's the worst part of the job and the less you have already in place the better. Personally, I'd paint now and plan to touch up after because that would shorten my time between counter install and functional kitchen, but that's me.

Ghoulish Delight 09-19-2006 10:53 AM

No, just painting cabinets.

I'm now going to accept this as a blessing in disguise at it significantly simplifies our time management crunch over the next couple of weeks.

WELL, YOU CAN SAND & PRIME BEFORE THE COUNTERS.

Hey! some litle fuzzy thing truned on mr caps lock.

Morrigoon 09-19-2006 12:27 PM

Well, I'd just unpack a couple items to get you through the next couple weeks. Or live off paper plates for a bit ;)

CoasterMatt 09-19-2006 12:38 PM

I think we've been living off paper plates for about 4 1/2 years now :D

Yeah, I'm considering it. Don't know if I want to take the doors of the hinges twice though.

Actually the biggest problem is going to be the 11 days in between during which we will not have a kitchen counter/sink/dishwasher. Should still be able to use the stove though.
