The people who have Axiom M80s got REALLY happy once they added an XPA series amp.

If you go on emotivalounge.com - many Emotiva owners demo the gear for interested parties.

Things are starting to come together. My new Oppo Blu-Ray player arrives tomorrow, the Projector came today and this weekend I'm heading across town to audition for an in home audition of the Axiom speakers attached to the emotiva amps.

Lemme know how the audition goes. I got to hear a pair of ERT 8.3s powered by a pair of XPA-1 monoblocks; and it was DELICIOUS!

First off, I discovered it's pronounced "E moe tea va" rather than "Eee moe tive". So much for my street cred.

The demo system I listed to was, err how to put this... interesting. Massive Axiom M80's, Pre-amps and amps all shoehorned into a living room I'd guess was about 12x12'. Total overkill. No attempts at all to make the room acoustically friendly and I doubt we used even 1/3 of the speakers power, yet they sounded like demons howling in heat (in a good way). Totally amazing. The DVD-A's and SACD's we listed to made CD's sound muddy in comparison. For the movie, the surrounds blended in perfectly, accenting the film without drawing unwanted attention. I can't wait to hear how all this works in the room I'm custom tailoring for use as a home theater.

Heh.

We had some friends over for an informal gathering yesterday. I took the guys down to the cave to demo the new theater system. Around here most of my peers think Bose is the epitome of sound reproduction.

I started with the opening of Fellowship Of The Ring, the demise of Sauron. The SVS subwoofer did it's thing. Whooooooooommmmmmm....

Then I queued up The Fifth Element scene where Lilu takes a dive off the ledge. The surrounds are used to great effect in that scene.

And just to be nasty, I finished with an SACD: Dark Side of the Moon. Money.

I think I will add one of these to the home theatre for better low end
