2 Years of a Million Disappointments

I'll be the dissenting voice.
We're not the target demographic for this contest. Children are. They're going to ask their parents to enter them in a contest so they may win a phone call from their favorite character. It would have been amazing to get an actual phone call from Mickey Mouse or Buzz Lightyear (if BL was around) when I was a kid. OMG, talk about a dream come true for a child who still believes. How cool would it be for the princess obsessed little girl who has never been to a Disney park to get a phone call from Cinderella or Snow White. I think it's a cute promotion. It will get kids excited about the movie (that is getting decent reviews). |
I agree with BTD. It's a cute promotion aimed at kids. It seems pretty ridiculous to get riled up over the supposed cheapness of it.

Yes, at first it strikes one as lame, but considering how annoyed otherwise rational adults get if it isn't Mickey that calls them for their wake-up call at a Disney hotel I can see it being something a lot of people would like, especially if it is a younger child that will take the call.

As the parent of a 4 year old, I can attest to the draw here. He would be over the moon if Buzz or Lightning McQueen called him. It's a state of belief, he would know that was the *real* character there and just be excited for weeks. I think it's a great promotion!

I just brought this up with my friend who works on a lot of the events and promotions with Disney and Disneyland and he said it's more about Enchanted promo. So, I'm guessing throwing in the other names is probably just to get kids to Ooh and Ahh over the names they already know, like Buzz, et al.
Oh, and it might just be "Win a call from my buddy NameWitheld." ;) |
