a "safe" place to keep valuables?

Mousey Girl 06-07-2010 11:14 PM

I have many things to say about this, but I will refrain.

When you consider what happens to the bull, I have difficulty feeling sorry for him.

So a real life WTF that happened to me today.

A woman came into the pharmacy asking for Epsom salts and digestive enzymes. Ok, no problem. Then she asked if there is anything stronger for cleaning poison out of wounds.
I ask her to explain, long story short, she stepped on a stingray and got stung.
She showed me her foot which was swollen and discolored. The whole foot was red and scaly, the wound was actually black, and her leg had round red marks almost like hives that she said were actually expanding up the leg, they had moved from just above her ankle to half way up her calf in about 10 hours.

I said she should go to the doctor immediately, she said she didn't want to, then asked which digestive enzymes are protein based because the poison is protein based and she was hoping that they would bind together and get out of her system faster.

At this point I washed my hands of the situation and got the pharmacist, who again told her to go to the doctor. She again declined and asked her two questions of him.
He refused to recommend anything except a trip to the doctor and reminded her that stingray venom is how Steve Irwin died. She said "yea but that was in the heart, this is just my foot." he responded "poison is poison you need to be treated."
At this point she asked where another pharmacy was. We told her and repeated that she needed to see a doctor.

So she left, I fully expect if I looked around on line in a few weeks I will find out she either lost the limb or her life all to either save $80 or to prove a point.
People really scare me sometimes

Black? Isn't that gangrene?

alphabassettgrrl 06-09-2010 09:10 PM

I don't think it's necessarily gangrene, but yeah, she should have it looked at professionally. There's obviously something wrong. I mean, getting stung by a ray isn't going to be pleasant, but when it turns black, yeah, there's something seriously awry.

Texas and Oklahaoma teams in the Pac10? W-T-F?! (nevermind that Pac 16 just sounds stupid.)

cirquelover 06-10-2010 11:04 AM

Yeah we were'nt to thrilled to hear that either. Now it's official that Colorado will join the Pac-10 sometime in the near future. I bet Boise is really pissed!
