Full story here.

Chainsaws shouldn't be used as beard trimmers.

Guess I know what I'll be getting for Xmas

Well, as this IS the WTF thread, this comment won't be out of place:

They say that Mr Phyall was "vulnerable". This is the same guy that had a fully operational chainsaw in a unit. I'm glad that I didn't try to sell him Girl Guide cookies or Nutrimetics.

It listed the possible cause of death of Mr Phyall as ‘complete transaction of the neck’.

Naahhh...that couldn't have possibly been the cause. Had they said "complete transaction of the bank" I'd have cause for concern, 'cos my bank never gets it right.

An ambulance service spokesman said: ‘We were called to an address in Bishopstoke to reports to a “concerns for welfare.”

Well, when the caller said "Mr Phyall had lost his marbles" they weren't whistling Dixie (and neither, it seems, was he). On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate this an 11 in terms of "concerns for welfare".

I'll be heading off now...

Don't go losing your mind over this story. It just isn't where we want this thread to head.

Hmm, would a thread asking for everyone's "Overly Dramatic Suicide Ideas" be too wrong?

I am occasionally disturbed by the amount of thought you put into these kind of things.

Like I've said in the past, while I've never come remotely close to committing suicide, I do think about it several times a day. My own death fascinates me. I can't see a high cliff without wondering what it would be to fall off it. A anthill without wondering how it would be to be eaten by army ants. A copse of trees in a twilight park without considering a violent mugging that leaves me mortally wounded but with enough life left to wander somewhere and die dramatically in the arms of a friend.

I find it really odd to think that there are people who don't think about such things all of the time. I think about good things too.

Maybe I just think too much and too fast.

I always thought it would be odd to dive into a big vat of chocolate at Hersheypark and drown/burn in divinity.

I think about those things sometimes, too. Not a lot, but sometimes.

Well, we just got to experience the aftermath of someone's apparent suicide (or, perhaps it was a murder). The guy died (or chose to die) on the eve of a heat wave few days later his neighbors just couldn't figure out where that smell was coming from. They figured it out - or the police did. We stepped into the elevator soon after they had brought the body down. It was not comforting finding out why the elevator smelled.
