Sometimes I feel like a gangster's moll:
Me: Greg and Jennie just got a condo. Ralphie: They did? Me: Yep, see here's the pictures. Ain't they got a nice house? Ralphie: Yes. Me: How come we don't have a house? Ralphie: Here we go. Me: Other people's always so lucky. What about us? Ralphie: Someday. Me: Someday came early for them... They's younger than us. We can't wait until we don't have a lotta somedays left. Ralphie: I hear you, I hear you. Here, have some more chocolates... :D |

Thanks to everyone. Funny how it looks great but all I can think of is getting my hands on the kitchen.
Question for the ages: If one hates blinds and one hates drapes, what do the two of you do? (Yes, I know, both on each window - but we're on a budget here.) |
First of all CONGRATS!!!
Second, what about wooden blinds? That is what The Old People have. They are the oak ones, wider and thicker than regular blinds. |
Shutters?

Do you have to have a covering? Does the window look on the backyard, or a public space? Our kitchen window doesn't have any covering at all. |
Cover the windows in foil?
Tinted windows? Stained glass? Colored Louvers? |
Eh, I'll probably just deal with curtains since. In the end, I do actually prefer the look of curtains. I just happen to prefer the functionality of blinds.

If you get thick curtains, you can get the same effect as blinds of making the room darker. It's the cheapo curtains that let all the light in...
