Question for the ages: If one hates blinds and one hates drapes, what do the two of you do? (Yes, I know, both on each window - but we're on a budget here.)

Flip a coin?

Some rooms have blinds and some have drapes?

That's not the issue, it's the opposite for me. I like that you can gradullay lighten a room with even light with blinds, vs. the annoying strip of light you get with curtains when they're open a crack. I know we can get sheers as well, but that's still too quantized for me. But I can deal.

Do you hate both vertical and horizontal blinds? I'm not a fan of horizontal blinds but like vertical ones (which are also immune to inevitable destruction by cats if ever there is one in the house).

We both hate vertical blinds. I like horizontal/venitian blinds, she does not.

Actually, that's the reason I like curtains. GD likes blinds because you can let light in evenly. We'll figure it out. :)

Go for the Lutron™ solution. I'm sure it's affordable.

I hate the clacky noises vertical blinds make when the wind hits it. I also hate the buzzing noises horizontal ones make when the windows are open behind them.

Well, I say don't cave in to the arbitrary social pressure that you have windows. Brick them all in, install natural lighting with dimmer switches.

Gemini Cricket 08-21-2006 11:32 AM

Or you can get some of those diagonal blinds.

But there's also Alex's dungeon solution...
