I thought I'd make it this year but Maddie just got a national anthem gig for Saturday. Hopefully next year.

C'mon. That damn song takes all of 45 seconds...

So, how's 1:30 pm for people who want to hit the Tide Pools? That's the low-tide point ... plus I understand several people can only do daytime, so I think it's best to start that early.

 Who's in?

Oh, did I mention you can rid yourself of anything unwanted in your life, and IT WORKS? :snap:

Hey everybody, JU KOON IS SOON!!! This Coming Saturday, September 18!

We haven't had a Swanking for awhile, so howzabout making this one of those? It's gonna be fun.

Here's some memories from the first Ju-Koon, way back in 2007 ...

Once again, we will be casting our unwanted life problems, situations, drama and garbage into the sea - to expunge them from our better lives.

This time, we won't be at the beach though - - -

we'll be here:

Please join us for any or all of the festivities and activities at one of Southern California's most glorious places - Portugese Bend on the rugged Palos Verdes Coast.

 1:30 p.m. - a visit to tantalizing tide pools below the cliffs of Oceana. Sealife, Ocean Gloriousness, and the Jew part of the festivities (casting bread into the waves).

:birdy:Um, later (4ish? or whenever the incoming tide prompts us to move on) - a beautiful nature walk along the cliff-tops high above the roaring sea at the Trump Golf Course.

:tiki: Late Afternoon - a visit to the ginormous Korean Friendship Bell - to commemorate the Koreanization of Jew Coon into the somewhat less offensive and more fun to spell "Ju Koon."

;) And at sunset or shortly after - Point Fermin Park, for the traditional raccoon hunt - yes, the Coon part of the festivities.

:snap: It's going to be a day of beautiful nature, wonderful friendships, and fun festivities. Everyone's invited! Come and Play!! :iSm:

Alas, a good friend of mine from high school is following a job opportunity out of state, and Saturday will be our last chance to see him and his son before they disappear. So we once again will not be able to join.

Remember, I will have a limited edition piece of swag for participants.

At this rate, who knows if there will be any. I read on Facebook that Pru's flying to Texas today.

Um, I'm rethinking making JuKoon the second Saturday in October - in perpetuity - starting this year. :)

Thoughts?

Well, I requested someone to suggest a date a few pages or so back. I figured the suggestion should come from one of the people who can't make it on the 18th. Since that now turns out to be, well, almost everyone ... let's revisit the idea of making Ju Koon a more reliable holiday. Of course, not like most holidays - I guess only like Thanksgiving. ;)

It would be the second Saturday in October. Forever. If we start this year, that would make it October 9.
