This article came out yesterday in the SF Chronicle. I feel it is an important story that the mainstream media isn't addressing as loudly as they should be.

those of us who were in the Military, know that "Military Self Protection" isn't just a job, it's an adventure. An adventure in covering it's own a.s.s.

Makes it even more ironic to think of the libs (NO one here- but on many other sites) who danced and spat on his grave- gosh, he may have even agreed with them on the war.

Good lord- why would you hang around sites that were that vicious? I can't belive anyone would do such a thing- I don't doubt that it has happened, but it's frikken sick and wrong.

She musta been thinking of that midwestern baptist church. It's in Kansas right, or was it somewhere else...... Would look, but don't want to waste my energy and time on such stupidity........Or would they be considered conservative......god I am soo confused.

Now I want to make perfectly clear before someone decides to defend people about this- I am by NO means saying it was a majority opinion. But the attitude is out there- and if you read enough of DU you will find a great deal of troop hating in the vein of calling them baby killers and criminals-

I don't go to that site- not directly. I get the links through another site-where I don't feel like I need to shower after looking at it-

I hate to say it- but my experience is that there are certain personalities I can disagree with over these things and still get along with- and there are some people who have made it so toxic that I can't stand even speaking to them any longer.

I am sure my anger runs over sometimes- though it sickens me when I see some things spoken from people I thought were more reasonable than that-

I am not doubting that attitude is out there, but why go to that site and seek out such crap, when you know it will only piss you off.....

It would be like me going to that one church's website(you know, the one that says that God hates America(it was posted on this site once before, but don't feel the need to seek for the name or the link again)). Its not worth the time to read stuff like that.

On similar veins, (without even looking for it)I know there are many people in this country that still hate black people, that hate jews, that just hate to be alive. No surprise there, I just feel sorry for them.

Very true, but I also have heard people say Bush is an Alien too. You can find a person who believes almost anything if you look hard enough. 99% love the troops and understand their jobs. 1% gets good press by screaming loud.

It is when the whack jobs get power, they become dangerous, otherwise they are just to be laughed at.

You guys seem to misunderstand- I do not go looking for this in order to rouse my anger-I post on a conservative site (lurk mostly) and they have highlights of this type-like I said, I don't seek it out-

But on the flip side- I do not object to reading things from all views, I am not going to hide from the ugly sides anymore than the good-

I like people but I have no respect for the leftist ideology-and I fail to see why I would hide that-

So its the other people on your conservative site that seek this stuff out and then post it to get your haunches up?

LOL- mostly to laugh at the really truly wacko stuff- and for one other main reason. That site BANS anyone with a conservative or non-lockstep view- so the only way we can even respond to some of the things posted is to do it on our site-

I have no respect for extremist ideology, left or right. The views you're talking about and linking to are the loud, whacko minority and it exists on either side. It serves no purpose other than to be reactionary. It proves nothing about liberals or conservatives, all it proves is that if someone (in this case, the people on your conservative message board) looks hard enough, you can find someone with an extreme opinion. Big deal. They exist on both sides. Is what you've linked to really worse than Pat Robertson endorsing assassination in the name of God? Or some nut who wants me deported from this country because I think "under God" should be removed from the pledge? Is Michael Moore worse than ultra-conservative hypocrites that want to kill gays because of their threat to the sanctity of marriage and then cheat on their wives? Hardly.

The point of the thread was to illustrate how the administration tool Tillman and wanted to make him some sort of icon (like the tried with Jessica Lynch) to further their terrible war.

But there have been some interesting points brought up nonetheless.

Another fringe right-wing group is the Aryan Nations. I don't have to go to their website to know that they are insane and anything I read there is bound to piss me off. I certainly do not, and never have, lumped other conservatives in with them. I would hope that I am afforded the same consideration- I am just a staunchly against the extreme left nut jobs.
