That was the most BORING thing I've watched in a while. Granted, I didn't watch all of it. Maybe it had a point in there somewhere near the end.

I've seen other examples of such debunking from the same people. I'm aonly about halfway through this one but it is better than most. Generally I find them to do a little too much black-box conspiracy-mongering that I find similarly distasteful in the 9/11-conspiracies crowd.

Using minute amounts of unclear evidence to draw much larger pictures. However, in the first half I think the shooting in the empty room and the living corpse are compelling images.

But I'm also not surprised by the manipulation and if you watch the news closely you'll frequently hear reporters talk about the Palestinian attempts to stage scenes (Anderson Cooper is good about this) but I'm not so eager to quickly jump on the idea that most reporters are willing participants or that this even comprises a significant portion of coverage.

I see a biased "documentary" chronicaling the struggle of a people fighting an enemy with vastly superior resources in any way they can.

So you agree that they're staging events?

If so, how should the media handle the film from those events?

Certainly both sides of this issue are media savvy and are manipulating news and information to best suit their needs.

Do you think propaganda is a one sided affair in any conflict?

Just in light of the admitted photo doctoring we saw recently, I would hope the international press is raising it's standards when reporting the actions of either side.

Of course propaganda isn't a one sided affair. And that video, though it only focuses on one side, doesn't say it is. It also doesn't question the motivations of those staging the scenes.

It is a recrimation of the mainstream media for airing as authentic footage they should be aware is staged and attempts to lay out why it should be apparent.

I disagree that it is as apparent as they feel it is. And other presentations by the same people (or at least with the same narrator) aren't as good as this one, which I still question.

Based on the title and where it was going, I was looking for the Holywood sign to appear in a shot. But, I'm an idiot.

I would label it as pro-Israeli propaganda made to erode confidence in both the news media and the Palestinians. Like and good lie propaganda it helps project believability if you add a bit of the truth in it.

Duh.

But it still raises the question. If 60 Minutes should reasonably have known the footage was staged, should they have aired it?

Duh.

Should a news organization knowingly air false or misleading footage?

How about a somewhat less hypothetical question?

Except that is the question that the video is trying to raise: if they shouldn't, but did, and in their view it was obviously staged, then what can be inferred from them airing it anyway?

The "point" the video is trying to say is flawed in the same manor as your phrasing of the question. It's based on inconclusive arguments and blatant speculation.

Who made this video? Why did they make it?

At least with 60 Min. and other mainstream media, they don't hide who they are and what they are doing.
