That's a thing of beauty!
I want a moose in my pool! |
Now, all that moose needs is a Moosedrool brewski and he's set.
|
You know it's hot when...
Moose start shrinking down to the size of soda-pop caps. |

Ive never actually seen one. for those of us who havent, here's one for scale
|
Looking closely at the first picture on top it look appears that the moose is peeing into the pool.
So maybe it isn't hot but rather cold and it likes the warmth of stewing in its own urine. Probably just a trick of lighting but that's the story I've decided on. |
Maybe water has the same effect on the moose as it can have on people and by stepping in it he had to go pee.
Or, well, not as nice an idea, all animals need some sort of water to pee in and use all of the lakes, rivers, and streams as their potties. It is a beautiful animal, though. And oh my gosh, HUGE!!!! They can do some serious damage, from what I've heard. |
I was in the Grand Tetons with my parents and my dog (a Westie ;)). We were walking along the shores of Sting Lake, which is long and narrow (hence the name). I came around a bend to find a bug bull moose standing in the river chomping on river grass. My first thought was of the Dinosaur in the Primeval World diorama at Disneyland. My next thought was "my he's huge". He sauntered away, thank God!

[Bullwinkle Voice]"Oh, looky. A human cage full of humans...how interesting!" [/Bullwinkle] My mom screamed at the top of her lungs, the moose screamed in response (more of a beller, actually) and the rest of us jumped up just in time to see a moose butt high tailing it out of there! |
Did the moose butt take the rest of the moose with it?
|
Tetons. heheheh.
|
Hey babe: nice Tetons!

That'd be cool to have a moose in my pool! If I had a pool.
Yes, they are enormous. I saw a few in the water when touring Yellowstone with my grandparents. So gorgeous though. This is still my favorite moose site: http://moosefarm.newmail.ru/mfe01.htm My closest encounter with a large animal- having just moved to Montana, it's January, I've got three drunks in the car, I'm the only sober one (thus I'm driving), it's icy, and I'm driving down a mountain road at midnight. Oh, yeah, and I'm driving an older car that we just bought and I'm not familiar with yet. There's a very large elk in the road. Panic, much? Oh, yeah. There was no way I was going to be able to stop. Not in the short distance to him. Luckily he moved. I didn't think I was driving too fast but neither was I going to be stopping quickly enough. Those things are big, too. |
I'm still mad that we didn't see any moose hanging out in Anchorage. Did see one on the river, but none in the city, which is the trippier part.
|
"Moose in my pool" would be a good band name.

of course it did, silly old bear! |
I'm just being thorough, you know, in the name of science.
|
I was walking to get my mail yesterday and my shows were leaving imprints in the asphalt. It was hot here yesterday (my car thermometer said 114 when I got home at 4:00).

Aww.. dry heat is so much better than this sticky muck we have down here in So Cal.
Dont knock it till you try it. At least you arent falling asleep damp! |
Dry Heat - Like a Blow Torch
|
We had family friends that lived in Phoenix for a while. They say that one of the proverbial camel back breaking straws was the day it was so hot that the city shut down...not because you couldn't be outside in the heat (there really is something to that dry heat thing), but no one could actually touch anything without burning themselves. Especially cars, this being in the 80s when cars had so much exposed metal that they turned into branding irons at anything over 95 degrees.
|
I don't think I would mind it being that hot. Not that I'd want to just sit outside in it and evaporate or anything, but I like warm. Maybe I'm part lizard or something, but "comfortable" for me is generally quite a bit warmer than it is for most.

Add me to the polar bear club. I hate heat. Last week in Seattle, it was in the 60's. People were walking around in coats and sweaters; I was in shorts and a t-shirt, and loving it!
|
I despise cold. And rain.
When I as in 4th grade, I lived up near WB in Vancouver, WA. Rained every flippin day. They made you go to recess in the rain. I only lived there 9 months, but it was more than enough. So I live in the desert now and that suits me just find. |
It's so hot outside that there was a knock at the door and it was my front lawn wanting to come in.
|
Ya know, everybody says they like it cold cuz you can put on more clothes... but once I'm cold, I'm cold until I spend a long time at 80 degrees ambient temperature.
I hate cold. Lived with cold. Done with that. Now I live in CA where it's warm. |

Sheesh, I'm melting. I feel like parts of me are sloughing off and I'll not find them until next year. I hate summer in the Valley with a special passion...
|
It's already getting dark earlier here and topping out in the 60s. :(

I too grew up in Vancouver and they never made us go outside for recess in the rain. In fact we loved the rainy days because then we got to stay inside and play boardgames instead.
Of course, it really didn't rain that often. There was a heavy mist or light drizzle a lot but that's not really rain (if you can be outside for 20 minutes and it hasn't soaked through your coat, then it isn't raining so far as I'm concerned). |

People at work keep telling me how hot it is, but except for the 2 minute walk from my booth to the break room, I'm usually not out of A/C.
|
I have memories of kickball in downpours, soaked shoes constantly, and unsympathetic teachers. I hated it.

Yeah, poor sweetie at his studio in the Valley...at least I'm on the West Side during the day! Although it's even so hot over here that I'm just having a ginormous Diet Coke for lunch...
|
According to Weather.com, it is currently 112° F in Death Valley, CA (although they say it only feels like 107°)
It is currently 113° F in Baker, CA (although they say it feels like 114° - I don't get that!) |
