You know it's hot when...
Moose start shrinking down to the size of soda-pop caps.

Looking closely at the first picture on top it look appears that the moose is peeing into the pool.
So maybe it isn't hot but rather cold and it likes the warmth of stewing in its own urine. Probably just a trick of lighting but that's the story I've decided on. |

Maybe water has the same effect on the moose as it can have on people and by stepping in it he had to go pee.
Or, well, not as nice an idea, all animals need some sort of water to pee in and use all of the lakes, rivers, and streams as their potties. It is a beautiful animal, though. And oh my gosh, HUGE!!!! They can do some serious damage, from what I've heard.

[Bullwinkle Voice]"Oh, looky. A human cage full of humans...how interesting!" [/Bullwinkle] My mom screamed at the top of her lungs, the moose screamed in response (more of a beller, actually) and the rest of us jumped up just in time to see a moose butt high tailing it out of there!
