You husband often acts like he is.

Too true.

I usually enter all the contests I can. I have won quite a few times. But I took one look at this and clicked right on by. I mean, I could get a call from Cinderella, and then have the same person check me out at the store. It's just an employee, people, not a cellebrity. And on the phone you don't even have the benefit of a costume.

Wait, no costume.....

I take that back, I'll take Cindy's call if she were costumeless!

Hello, Spring River Farm? This is Remy, I've got a few friends here interested in some crispy cheese...Hold on, that's my call waiting...Remy here! Oh, hiya Mick, hey you and Min gotta check out this guy, he's got crispy cheese! You know that little thing I do with the cheese and the mushroom? Yeah, it's like that, only without the mushroom and the lightning. Boy I could sure do without the lightning. Anyhow, let me get back to this guy, year of a million whatevers and all that. If you get a chance, give him a call. Tell Freddie and Ferdie Uncle Remy says hi, oh and Uncle Emile says hi too. Gotta go, talk atcha later!

Nephythys 11-08-2007 08:03 AM

I'll be the dissenting voice.

We're not the target demographic for this contest. Children are. They're going to ask their parents to enter them in a contest so they may win a phone call from their favorite character.

It would have been amazing to get an actual phone call from Mickey Mouse or Buzz Lightyear (if BL was around) when I was a kid. OMG, talk about a dream come true for a child who still believes. How cool would it be for the princess obsessed little girl who has never been to a Disney park to get a phone call from Cinderella or Snow White. I think it's a cute promotion. It will get kids excited about the movie (that is getting decent reviews).

Stan4dSteph 11-08-2007 09:30 AM

I agree with BTD. It's a cute promotion aimed at kids. It seems pretty ridiculous to get riled up over the supposed cheapness of it.

LOl- that was my first thought- I'd even typed it out, but then I thought I'd just cut to the chase.:D

Alex 11-08-2007 10:21 AM

Yes, at first it strikes one as lame, but considering how annoyed otherwise rational adults get if it isn't Mickey that calls them for their wake-up call at a Disney hotel I can see it being something a lot of people would like, especially if it is a younger child that will take the call.

Brigitte 11-08-2007 10:28 AM

As the parent of a 4 year old, I can attest to the draw here. He would be over the moon if Buzz or Lightning McQueen called him. It's a state of belief, he would know that was the *real* character there and just be excited for weeks. I think it's a great promotion!

blueerica 11-08-2007 10:30 AM

I just brought this up with my friend who works on a lot of the events and promotions with Disney and Disneyland and he said it's more about Enchanted promo. So, I'm guessing throwing in the other names is probably just to get kids to Ooh and Ahh over the names they already know, like Buzz, et al.

Oh, and it might just be "Win a call from my buddy NameWitheld." ;)

Hello, Walt speaking. I've been thawed out as part of a promotion that is also inviting damn tourists into my apartment I never got to see. Here's the deal, I talk, you listen, I get to stay thawed out for another couple hours. Capiche? Hey, are you one of those lard-asses they're having to rip out small world for? Here's an idea, they should make it a swim-through! That'll get you to drop a few pounds. Maybe have a couple less of them Mexican donuts. Whaddaya call 'em? Churros. Whatever. Hell, my time is up. Gotta go meet the new guy. Bruce Gordon. Ever hear of this guy? Apparently he's the guy that loused up Tomorrowland and ripped out my Mineral King show. I got a few things to say to him. Hey, if they ask, it was magical, and my name was Walt.
