Old Cell Phones

As most of us know, old cell phones cannot be trashed and should be recycled.
I was looking for something for work and came across this.

911 Cell Phone Bank

I donated my last few to battered womens shelters. I feel kind of bad about that as not one of them was worth the energy it'd take to toss it off a pier.

Thanks for the note BTD.

FWIW: a phone that is not currently enabled on a service provider can still be used to make 911 calls (assuming the phone is in working order). I am not sure how far back this would work (how old of a phone this applies on), but it is worth knowing.

yup. just like you can call 911 on a pay phone sans coinage (at least that used to be true)
