Please tell me you've had freshly caught trout (not store-bought) or at least trout from a restaurant not located on a river that caught it no less than a couple of hours before being cooked). Otherwise, I'll just have to disregard what you said.

That said, trout is one of my least favorite fish, simply because it turns bad (IMO) so quickly. The only alternative for most is to have smoked trout, and having grown up on a river with parents that offered to smoke everyone's catch of the day... smoked trout stands proudly as one of the few foods that on smell alone can induce nausea for me.

But fresh trout, grilled and seasoned lightly.
