According to their
station locator, Exxon does not operate stations in Oregon, Western Washington, Nevada outside of Las Vegas, Kansas, Nebraska, or Missouri. So I'm guessing there are many failures.
As an example, Newport, Oregon, is 215 miles away from the closest station in Yreka, CA.
