![]() While I tell you my tale of woe, grab a seat -a super-size-me bike seat, perhaps or maybe you prefer an industrial-sized potty seat?
I found the Living XL catalog in our pile of mail. Oh no they di-n't address that thing to me! ![]() Can I get some sympathy? Some stories of catalog marketing gone horribly and unexplainably awry? |

Using Gloria Swanson is great!
![]() I dunno, sending me a Victoria's Secret catalogue seems rather silly. I won't even talk about the SPAM I get in my email bulk folder having to do with penis enlargement you'd think they'd get the sex right and go for botox or breast augmentation SPAM......

You know those newspaper-like coupon/ad things you get every darn week? I noticed last week that one of them had a phone number to call to subscribe or unsubscribe. So I called it. I got an answering machine that told me to leave my address, so I did (with the word "unsubscribe" said firmly several times). They said it could take a few weeks to go into effect. If it does, I'll be making more phone calls like that. |

Yeah, I want some of the catalogs that I get, so I wouldn't ever stop all of it. What if I missed something really good?
Be sure to tell Living XL not to sell your info to their partners. Just imagine what catalogs could be coming next! |

I once heard that if you get large amounts of credit card applications, try this.
Everytime you get one, mark in big black letters accross the whole application "Not Interested!" and send it back in the PRE-PAID envelope. This way they paid for the mailing and postage, as well as the return postage. Some speculate that they hate spending all this money and may well remove you from the list. ![]() I don't know if this is true, but it could be fun. I normally just shred it. I think a do not mail list would be fantastic! There's some great ideas there, I just may try some of them.

No, it's not true. However, if you read the fine print you'll generally find a phone number you can call to get yourself removed from the "pre-approved" mailing lists. It takes a while but once on that list it cut down on the number I receive.
When you get "convenience checks" for the credit cards you do have you should be able to find a number in that mailing as well for calling to stop those. And even if there isn't one call your credit card and tell them you don't want them. "Convenience" checks are about the worst thing in the world for identity theft and other scams. |

I agree, those things should be by request only. Of course they are not that much more conveniant, and with all of the fees and higher interest, they are never a good idea.

I think its funny that these days, I get more junk mail than my parents. I get no less than 6 college letters a day. BYU, in particular, seems really interested in me, even though I'm not a mormon and on all the college interest forms I fill out I specifically say I'm NOT interested in going anywhere other than the east or west coast
