I like voting on the same day as everyone else. Seems more ritualistic and participatory that way.

I would love to go back to that but:

-my polling place moves in capricious ways that distress me, even in years that I don't travel:

-I travel a great deal; I will be on the East Coast on the big day this year. I live in SoCal. Even if I knew where my polling place was this time it would not help.

-so, I put my silly ballot into an envelope that I'm sure is going to be counted well after the fact, if needed, after the election has been "called." It's fun. Ha-ha. But it's all I got.

-at least I get to sit at home and carefully study all of the less-hoo-ha'd issues on there at my leisure, and then place a carefully-considered vote.

My name is Liz, and I have permanent absentee voter status.

I wish I could vote at work - we are a polling place! Previously they haven't had a very big turn out - but I'm thinking this year will be different.

But I'll be voting in person near my house. I too enjoy the ritual of voting with everyone else and getting my sticker. I wish I could vote earlier in the day so I could wear my sticker all day. I want to show it off - and feel like my wearing it somehow encourages others to go get their own sticker.

We always go to the polling place and take the kids along. Want them to realize it is important, and for some reason, going to the polling place as a family seems to emphasize the point more with them.

Plus by voting early you miss out on all the "October Surprise" fun.
What if it turns out your candidate is really a five headed hydra from the planet Garfarco? You'll feel pretty silly then.

My dad used to take me growing up (my mom has a green card) and I still feel the same way iSm does. I also worry about lost or purposely messed with mail, even if I hand it in to the post office myself. That said, there was one year I stood in line for well over an hour, and it was aggravating. I'm sure it'll be a busy year this time as well, though I'm now at a new polling place.

Polls open at 7am so I think I'll break my evening voting tradition and get up early this year. Wake 'n Vote!

I'm pretty much convinced that both major candidates are five headed hydra with socialist venom constantly spewing from their mouths. It makes me want to puke!
