A picture is worth 140 characters

A guy has developed a file encoding method, using Chinese characters for some nitty gritty technical reasons, that allows him to encode an image into 140 characters, thus making it tweetable.

Obviously a lot of data is lost in such an encoding, but for a first stab the results are pretty cool. Here's how the 140 character encoding of a photo of the Mona Lisa looks when translated back into an image file:

Golly, and here I thought all of those times I laughed at something I read or wrote on twitter were real, and all the things my friends communicated to me over it actually imparted information to me. Hmmmm I missed this quote. Please chill out. Everyone on this board posts random comments in threads and topics that do not interest them. It's called "goofing off" and "having fun", which is about 95% of this board. I made a silly comment which was similar to every type of comment I've made in the past at some point during a thread which had to do with twitter. Everyone who knows me knows I make random inappropriate comments all the time to joke around (and you've known me for many years).

I'll chalk this up to a bad day, and move on.
