Seriously, it is the ultimate derail. "Oh, she said 'f*ck.' Was that an appropriate word choice, or is she trying to shock me? I think she is. Reminds me of Nicole Kidman at the end of 'Eyes Wide Shut.' Not frank and honest, that. A big sore thumb. Still, not as bad as George Clooney in 'From Dusk Til Dawn.' I didn't believe a single of the hundred f-bombs that came out of his mouth. And . . . wait, where was I? Oh, the middle of a poem."

Factchecking department: you don't have to exchange bodily fluids when you f*ck. That's what condoms are for.

That aside, although I think your thesis is a bit overstated, I thought the poem was quite well rendered.

I like the word fvck. I don't usually say it other ways. As others here who know me irl can tell you, I have a bit of a dirty mouth. Besides, part of the point of the poem is that we often replace the real concept with a front of a pathetic replacement concept. To me, the real words are fvck, sh.t, etc, and the other words are people pretending they aren't actually saying the real words but still want to get the concept across.

Yeah, thought of that, though I consider french kissing a transfer of fluids. It's something that I might rework in the future...

I, too, have a bit of a dirty mouth. In fact, I'd put my dirty mouth up against anybody's, but . . .that doesn't mean I'd throw the word f*ck around in a poem.

Not sure I agree that sh*t is a more appropriate word/signal/connoter of the particular physical process than, say, "have a nice B.M." is.

I think Fvck works in context of the poem - especially that notion of sanitizing to make the dirty clean. Especially when, most of these things and practices have been promoted to make your more sexy (i.e. fvckable) when sex is inherently messy.

I too am guilty of humming the opening credits to the film. I guess that shows the power of the word and of pop culture. It really shows how we have preconceived notions for just about everything and sometimes that's just useless baggage.
