I spent a good deal of time and money on geekery over the past 10 years. It was a LOT of fun - the pursuit is half of it, but I'm sort of moving away from that brand of geekery. We all have our obsessins and pursuits and the journey through collecting is half the fun. Enjoy!

I just wanted to say that I have the Donald set, and I love it. But I'm a Donald fan, too. I haven't bought the second Donald set yet (CP--have you?).

I have the Pluto set, and I watched a lot of that when I was sick earlier this year. Boy am I glad I had that--it really hit the spot.

Isn't the second Donald set one of the ones that's supposed to be really crappy?

Snowflake, if you like WB cartoons, Donald cartoons are often the closest in spirit to WB.

There's one that's supposed to be really crappy?

I didn't know...but now I'll have to learn more about this before spending my money.

There were a couple tins where the restoration of the picture and sound was sloppy. Leonard Maltin has been catching flack for remaining involved in the project even though the quality standard dropped.

Yes, it was the Donald one that is crap picture quality ... adding insult to injury by being noticeably inferior to earlier Disney releases of the same material.

The Disneyland set is also controversial for being billed as "unedited" versions of early "Disneyland" and "Wonderful World of Disney" TV shows, when in fact the terrific Mouseketeers segment of the Disneyland Opening Day special is clearly and irritatingly missing. Bah.

While merchandise at Costco varies from store to store, the place is worth checking out for rotating stock. They seem to care the "tins" only within the first few weeks when new titles for "Disney Treasures" are released. This past weekend (in San Diego County locations), I found and bought the following Disney DVDs:
--Lady and the Tramp
--The Sword in the Stone ($12.99)
--The Rescuers ($12.99)
--The Rescuers Down Under ($12.99)
--The Great Mouse Detective ($12.99)
--The Hunchback of Notre Dame ($12.99)
--The Black Cauldron ($12.99)
--Robin Hood ($18.99)
--Hercules ($18.99)
--Pete's Dragon ($18.99)

They carried many other titles, both Disney animation and live-action movies, too.

I have bought most of mine at Best Buy, and they seem to hang on to a copy or two.

Thank goodness you are using the informal "tou(s)"!

I'm sure I would love the MMC again. I have little doubt it will end up on the shelf at some point.

Since yesterday, I binged and bought Disneyland USA, Behind the Scenes and Tomorrowland.
