For whatever customary ceremony that may take place in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, I hope none of the officials/dignitaries/speakers says something like, "Our 50th celebration is still kicking into high gear!"

Maybe the powers that be will let Matt Ouimet speak at the ceremony this year, unlike the 50th.

I plan to be there Sunday, July 16, and for the first half of the day on Monday, July 17 for rope drop. Then, find a spot to view the ceremony, but our view will probably be blocked by VIP seating or media scafolding/risers anyway. Regardless, it will be Disneyland's birthday and I'll be there to celebrate.

On a side note, I can't believe it's almost a year already since so many of Disneyland's most faithful camped out all night at Disney's California Adventure!

Don't be fooled, it's noon-9.

I'll be working Monday, but we may have to inspect the hotel room on Sunday.

Well I took Monday off just so I could do whatever at the parks.

Since we are still celebrating 50 years - perhasp this birthday we can ride all the attractions that opened in 1956. According to my list that would be:
  • The Astro Orbiter - yeah I know, but it is the modern day successor to the Astro Jets, and is probably more like them that the interveneing Rocket Jets
  • The Horseless Carriage (both red & yellow)
  • Sailing Ship Columbia
  • Tom Sawyer Island
  • The Explorer Cannoes - though while riding them we should make Indian War Whoops
  • Omnibus #1
It can be our "Amost Gold" tour

^ What a brilliant idea, €uroMeinke! I bet it's been a long time since many people at LoT have visited those A-Ticket and D-Ticket attractions, too!

So those are the ones added by Walt the following year (that are still operating)? Wow!

Funny, but I read "The Horseless Carriage" and my first thought was the hearst in front of the Haunted Mansion! I'm thinking "how's he gonna do that??"

You could also maybe also add Storybook Land Canal Boats since it was essentially a complete retheming of Canal Boats of the World and didn't open in the modern form until June 1956.

The original Fantasyland train station was also opened in 1956, though it was moved to its current location to make room for "it's a small world."

And then you can end it all by sneaking up to the Fantasyland station for the Skyway, which opened June 23, 1956.

Or you could go all out and drive out to Marceline, Missouri, and walk along the still-present Junior Autopia track that was built when that 1956 attraction closed and Walt donated it to the town.

Aside from the visit to Marceline, I'm all for the 1956 Tour (including the Storybook Land Canal Boats and, since it's been far too long since I've done anything of the sort, a visit to the Skyway Chalet).

Excellent idea, €!

Yeah, that sounds like a great idea, even with the astro-orbiters included.

Anything to force us to do something different

Yeah, I work noon to 9 - so what the hell, I may be there in the morning. I'd feel guilty about GD, except that I've missed many a meet that he's attended, including the 49th!
