Thanks for the link, Alex. I was able to find a way to do it in the final post of the thread.

For anyone else who may prefer the old way of doing things, rather than use the "open all in tabs" function, simply center-click on the folder you wish to open and the tabs will be replaced. Whew! I was about to go back to 2.0 if there wasn't a work around. It is simply too annoying to have to close all previous tabs manually.

ETA: Never mind. For some reason, that seemed to work the first time I tried it, but not during subsequent attempts. Back to square one. This sucks.
