We had a few broken legs every year at my school because of ice. Whatever brilliant architect designed the school didn't live in cold conditions. The roofs were steep and steel so all the snow/ice/water ran right off, onto the stairs you had to use to get from the main building to any other. There were some spectacular falls though.
