That's an insane price! Too bad I already bought it.

So, I have a confession to make that I'm not really ashamed to admit. I have a man-crush on Nathan Fillion. He just so totally rocks. I was even willing to see him in Waitress (didn't care much for the movie, but of course Nathan was awesome). I hate that Fox screwed him (and Tim Minear) over once again when they cancelled Drive. Stupid Fox...again!

Anyway, over the summer a local movie theater (Mission Theater in downtown Portland) was showing all the Firefly episodes. They did the same thing for Buffy and Arrested Development. It was so fun to be able to watch Firefly with a theater packed full of Browncoats. I also got to attend Portland's Can't Stop the Serenity screening which was also really fun.

I love a man who can admit to having a man crush, especially when it's a man crush on Captain Hot Pants Fillion.

My company worked on the Slither website. First, I love James Gunn, who wrote and directed Slither. And I also love the people in the cast, primarily Fillion and Elizabeth Banks (I have a girl crush on Elizabeth Banks). It was a dream to attend the premiere and after party, because I got to see some favorite celebrity types, including James Gunn (who I was too embarrassed to talk to), Joss Whedon (who I was too embarrassed to talk to), Sig Haig (who I wasn't too embarrassed to talk to, which seemed to make him uncomfortable) and Nathan Fillion. Ordinarily, I'd be way too shy to talk to a stranger that friggin' charismatic and handsome. He is just as (if not more) good looking in person. Tall and manly, by George! But I had two scotches on an empty stomach, so was feeling very brave.

I interrupted a conversation he was having with two other people. He was talking about how another actor in the movie stole the film and had all the funny lines, and the two people were disagreeing with him. "Oh, no, you were so great! So funny! The best thing in the movie."

And he said, "No, no. I'm fine with it, but he really did steal the show."

And I looked at him as I stuffed a chip in my mouth (at events where I don't know many people, I tend to stick by the chip bowl and/or bar) and said, "Oh, he *totally* did."

And he grinned wide, grabbed both my arms with his manly Nathan Fillion hands, and said, "Finally, honesty! He was great, right?!"

My brain pretty much filled up with, "Nathan Fillion is touching me. Grabbing me, even! Throw me down on the floor, Nathan Fillion! Show these people what you're really good for!"

And then he was gone and I was left, once again, at the chip bowl.

If I concentrate really hard, I can still smell him.

I've enjoyed the Faith arc best, because it was written by Vaughn (of Y the Last Man) instead of the TV staff writers. Great writers, but Vaughn seems to have his hand firmly in both writing styles (he wrote for LOST, as well) and gets the pacing of panel writing. Whedon has a tendency to pace his comic books like tv shows, complete with commercial interruptions. V also seemed to nail the character's voices. The first arc in the Season 8 series felt really off to me, and I think it's because the writers underestimated how much the actors brought to their roles. Reading the Faith arc, the characters felt inhabited, had weight. Very cool.

Totally missed the Firefly book. Hmmm.

Oh, see! That's the thing I loved about the cemetery screenings... being able to see my favorite movies (many of which I saw solo, considering most were "classics") with other people. Being able to watch Buffy with others would be... perhaps too much... but awesome, and I'd have to do it.
