From what I hear, men do not have an exclusive on this. I guess in an effort to not come in contact with said toilet, women will kind of squat over the toilet. I understand that indoor plumbing on some comes equipped with a wide angle sprayer permanently attached (I've heard this from more than one source).

When I visted Dublin last year, the toilet in my hotel room had two separate handles. One for "light" use and the other for "heavy". It's an idea that needs to spread to the States (althought I suspect if I took the time to google it I'd find it's already here)
