No argument from me on the content in that petition. But for the life of me I can't figure out what it is asking Schwarzenegger to do. The only call to action I see is "please read this." Which is fine (thought not exactly much of a petition) but didn't Schwarzenegger already oppose 8?

I emailed the governor's office before the election and this is the reply I received:

Thank you for writing Governor Schwarzenegger regarding Proposition 8. The Governor appreciates hearing comments from California residents on issues that affect our state.

California law prohibits the Governor from using state resources to advocate in favor of or opposed to a measure before California voters. However, it is vital that citizens make informed decisions, and your effort to familiarize yourself with the issues we will face on November 4, 2008, is commendable. For more information on the ballot, please visit the Secretary of State's website at www.sos.ca.gov.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write the Governor on this important election. The Governor values the comments of individuals like you who care about the future of our great state.
