Seattle is fantastic. I think you'll love it. You can pretty much walk everywhere, and anywhere you don't want to walk you just take the buses or lightrail with your ORCA card. The weather can be cold and rainy, but it can also be 60's-70's and quite beautiful. Even if you live in West Seattle or Beacon Hill or the U District, downtown is just a short bus trip away. For busing, get the One Bus Away app. It tells you if the bus you are waiting for is on time or if it is delayed and for how long. Invaluable! If it's late and buses aren't running and you need a cab, use Uber instead. You can see where all there cars are on the app (black towncars), and how long it will take for them to get you. You set everything up on the app and pay before you get in. They txt or call when they are close by and it's no hassle. Capitol Hill is the gay area. Tons of great bars and restaurants. Q is the newest gay club in the area- it's 2 floors and pretty nice inside, and the outside is super neon. Lots of drag brunches and stuff in that area as well. Pho is everywhere, as well as sushi. Those are really popular foods in Seattle. Westlake Center is in downtown and it seems to be the place where people tend to meet up to go other places from. That's probably because the downtown transit tunnel (bus and lightrail stop) goes right under there, and you can get directly to and from the airport on the lightrail for $2.75 each way. You can find places to live all over for pretty decent prices. As long as you don't live in a far far north or south suburb or across Lake Washington in Bellevue or Kirkland, public transit is much easier to take than driving your car. Parking can be prohibitively expensive (and a bitch to find) in downtown proper, though there are some metered spots that are more reasonable.

Hopefully some of that is helpful... Be well.
