Hahahah, I really like "Via Videopolis"

The last 72 hours are a Disneyland birthday blur. Oh hell, the last three years are a Disneyland birthday blur! Such fun was had on the lead-up to the 50th, and the actual 50th, and the Second Fiftieth that it all seems part of some epic cycle of celebration in Magic Kingdom Mythic proportions.

I think the 51st finally came out from under the shadow of the
"second" 50th when we added a resounding ONE to Julie Andrews' 50th fireworks remarks ... and via the guerilla tactics of hanging makeshift "1"s over hidden 50's in Adventureland and on Tom Sawyer Island.
to that. TheatreTech, Chernabog, SuPeR K! and Leigh-Ann simply rule!

Having a continual hotel suite party is always one of the best ways to bring a unique zest to yet another Disneyland event ... but never more so than when heat and humidity reach Floridian levels ... as they did on Monday's birthday. Hahaha, we had the worst incomplete score yet on our third annual birthday attraction quest ... even though we had the least ambitious goals to date. Too many of the 1956 attractions are out in the hot sun (Columbia) or out in the hot sun plus exertion required (Canoes).

Still others (a variety of Main Street vehicles) were off-line due to the set-up for the 51st's rather tame birthday event in front of the Castle on Monday morning. I pity the poor folks who waited in the hot sun for this one.

My mind couldn't help but flash back to the 49th, with hundreds of people similarly baking in that same Hub Hot Sun, as the photomosaic concept of the 50th decor theme was kicked off with the giant CM placard display filmed from hundreds of feet above, from three towering cranes surrealistically situated in Disneyland's plaza.

We hit quite a few of the Opening Day attractions that birthday, as we ourselves kicked off LoT's own multi-year Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration of attraction quests, theme meets and parties. The Train, the Twain, the Horse-drawn Street Car and Autopia were conquered before the Peter Pan queue in the blazing sun did us in that day. A noble effort and lots of fun.

That birthday also saw the original, sweetly heartfelt rush into the Fantasyland Castle "in the name of the children of the world."

When we did the follow-up the following year, we followed that same fun stunt with the most audacious Disneyland "happening" EVER -- as we Took Over The Carousel with nearly 80! people involved, most on horseback!

And of course, the continual Disneyland Hotel TM Suite Party in high style, the also incomplete attraction quest of Disneyland thru the Decades (another noble effort, with custom ticket books!), and the amazing fun of the continually changing cast of Disneyland friends, all of them, and all having the time of their lives.

The Fifty First was so much less 'on steroids' compared to the manic hysteria and passionate partying of the Fiftieth .... but despite the still hidden fifties, photomosaics and Castle bling-bling, the Fifty First was no mere Second Fiftieth. It was a fantastically fun festival in its own right, just freshly finished, and I'm gonna finish this rambling birthday post before I pass out for good.

Heheh, between last weekend's Ultimate Lot Swanker Meet and the Disneyland Birthday celebrations of the last few days, I have once again had the unique pleasure of hanging with and meeting & greeting most of our extended Disneyland family.

For those we got to really play with, it is indeed one of life's great pleasures to share the mega Disneyland Fun with you all. Oh, and thanks for coming to our hotel parties ... we really love all the good times that happen - "resort-adjacent" - on and around the 17th of July.

Special thanks to my co-hosts Laurie (doesn't post here), zapppop (hasn't posted here in forever / internet broken) and our very own swank guru, €, for his generosity and for succombing to the lure of constant suite partying for two days straight!

It's such a pleasure throwing these parties that bring us together for so much pleasure. Disneyland Birthday's as good an excuse as any.

Besides, it's awesome to celebrate our fine taste and childishDelightful love of the Happiest Place on Earth. We are the swankiest geeks alive!

.

Edited to replace "and Company" with "Leigh-Ann." Now that she actually posts here, she's too swank for a mere "and the rest" credit.
