There was a Mother and daughter pair at the salon who'd just moved here from Wisconsin. The mom was all excited about feeling her first quake. The teen (early 20's?) daughter was a little freaked out. Over what? That was a nothing quake - wait till they feel a REAL one!

Here's what a true earthquake veteran does for middle of the night earthquakes:
Wakes up Realizes it's an earthquake Thinks - Crap it's an earthquake [still in bed] a few seconds later - I wonder if I should get out of bed [still in bed] a few seconds later - seems to be getting stronger a few seconds later - maybe I should get out of bed [still in bed] a second later - either decides it's getting stronger and they're going to get in the door way or decides it's slowing down and lays there after it's over - crap, it's 3am. Work is gonna suck tomorrow. Hell, I'm up. Let's go see who else is online and how bad it was. And make sure I don't smell gas. |
