the end of the world, year 1

in the blink of an eye you flew to places I cannot follow
to the eternal realms where I am not yet welcome
I will bide my time here amongst those left behind
awaiting my turn
no longer fearing that which remains unknown to me
but now eternally blessed by your presence there

I miss you my dearest
I know now and accept that I always will
a thousand lifetimes shall pass
with your memory and love entwined in my very being
I am what I am because of our life together
a debt I can never repay

all Ive known and ever will know
all Ive seen and ever will see
all Ive lived and survived
I owe to you
thank you for gracing my life

until we meet once more

to hold you in my arms

geez I so very much hate valentines
the hearts and the cards, the "will you be mine?"s

such a fraud, a con, a vile pretense
its just never seemed, to me, to make sense

to spend just a day, a dollar, a thought
to profess your love with things that you bought?

to give of ones self is all that is needed
so to all who will hear, these words should be heeded

show your love with each day, not just one...but for all!
be it in winter or spring, the summer or fall

your happiness will grow throughout the year
if each and every day you hold loved ones near

so forget all the cards, the flowers, the hype
and pay close attention to these words that I type

love is too fleeting to last just the one day
love is more what you do and less what you say

dont take things for granted all the days in a year
and expect February 14th to make love reappear

so go hug somebody you love and be sure to say so
and do so each day and watch the love flow

your heart and your wallet will thank you in kind
and may the love that comes daily be all yours to find

I awoke with the scream
still caught in my throat
the terror now waning,
lifting from my half awake brain
like the overnight fog
meeting the first rays of sunlight
the image now but a haze
of memory and scattered thought
the morning air crisp and clear
like ice on my sweat soaked skin

just a dream
it was just a dream
