Deleting board members

Why would someone creat Bots to sign up on chat boards? I know there are bots that search out websites for the search engines, is that the same thing? I also realize there are some kind of automation that causes me to have to fill in the security blanks with code that's half scrambled at times to prove I'm a real person.

So what's up with these Bots you speak of (or should we call them "Those we don't speak of"?)

I believe their purpose is to post spam to our forums, but usually being a bot, they can't complete the registration process which requires responding to an email, and then being manually approved by one of the admins. A lot of Bots seem to have been born on January 1, 1980.
