Here would be a good place to mention that my iPod up and died on Tuesday. I'm sad and the iPod's sad. I can tell, because the sad little iPod face has x-es where the eyes should be.

Anyone upgrading and need to find a loving home for an old iPod?

The exact same thing happened to me. One day, I had an iPod. The next day, I didn't.

I have to get around to bringing the Discman back into the car.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see what I can figure out. I definitely don't want to import and then delete later.
