Oh, the list I went by was "wide release" only-- so several of those early ones I actually saw in 2005.

What I loved:
Dave Chappelle's Block Party
Casino Royale
Stranger Than Fiction
Little Miss Sunshine
Superman Returns
V for Vendetta
Tristram Shandy
The Hills Have Eyes
Slither
The Descent
Pirates: Dead Man's Chest
Borat

What I hated:
Down in the Valley (You're f**king killing me, Edward Norton.)
X-Men: The Last Stand

What was disappointing:
The Departed (not terrible and there were at least 4 performances that I LOVED, but there were mistakes along the way, and aside from the very end of the ending, I didn't care for the ending)
The Illusionist
The Prestige
Happy Feet

And somehow Inside Man is missing from mine. On the Alex scale, it would be an unbold black. I liked the performances, but ho-hum on the story and it's mildly entertaining twist.

Yes, inside man shouldn't have been bolded on mine either. The story was reasonably tight and I'd pretend I might go gay for Clive Owen but the Jodie Foster character was unneeded and the whole thing was a bit flat.

It did show, though, that if he wanted to Spike Lee could go mainstream.

Someone mentioned Match Point. That was a 2005 film, so it's not on the list. But, um, Munich was also 2005 and it is on the list.

I call shenanigans with that list.

That's why I go ultra-dorky and keep my own spreadsheet of movie watching.
I can tell you to how many days I've spent watching movies this year (about 11 days in total), how much I've spent watching movies (way too much), how many movies from 1955, etc.

Something had to replace the geekiness when I ended up with so few books that LC cataloging and shelving them no longer made any sense.

I'm surprised I made it to as many as five this year.

Hostel - Boorish, much like my date to it.
The Hills Have Eyes - My time could've been better spent removing gum from public park benches.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - I think we know my opinion, in short, I highly enjoyed it.
Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas in Disney Digital 3-D - Saw it alone at the El Capitan due to excessive excitement and lack of patience for someone to accompany me. I recall buying fantastic shoes at La La's afterward. A wondrous day all-around.
Saw III - I didn't quite..."see" enough of the film to judge it. I was "busy" at the time, or you know, whatever.

Spreadsheets are also wondrous things. I keep track of my time spent sleeping.
