I've stayed in many a KOA Kampground in my time and quite a Kamper Kabins.
While they are fine for what they are, there is, as a general rule, nothing swanky about KOA Kampbrounds (though the one outside of Victoria almost manages to feel like a campground and not a parking lot). |

I know a lot of people have had bad experiences with H.C. in Yosemite.
I remember we were not happy to have to stay there as opposed to a room and I thought how silly of people paying so much to stay there for a number of days. I thought I would only stay there as a last resort, like that time, the following two nights we had a very nice room in Curry Village, the loft Standard room in the building right next to main parking lot. But I digress... Those people who had rented units for 4 or 5 days were in a group of 4 or 5 families/groups. When we went walking around we saw how cool they had set things up. Lights, card tables for games, water toys for play. Sort of didn't matter at that point how uncomfortable the 'bed' was. I never went to summer camp but it seemed to me that it must have been something like that. Oh, and music. A must.
