I like tomatoes, but only thinly sliced. Same goes for my avocado. I use avocado as more of a "spread" since I really don't care for mayonnaise (use mayo pretty much only for making a tuna salad). Back to the tomatoes, I love the flavor, but pretty much can't stand chomping on a cherry tomato... because it GUSHES out. Ewww!


My perfect bacon sandwich would be bacon, sharp cheddar (though a good number of cheeses would be amazing), thin-thin-thinly sliced tomato with a few thinly sliced avocado pieces. Is it wrong that I'm quivering a bit at the thought?

The other day, I bought a package of Boar's Head smoked gruyere cheese for some french onion soup I was making. After going to two stores, it was the only gruyere I could find. I suspected that the smoked flavor might not work quite right in french onion soup and I was correct. Bad idea.

And yet, I bet it would have been absolutely perfect for your bacon sandwich. The thought is making my mouth water, although I'm not quite at the quivering stage.
