Well, I haven't seen a bill that small in over 20 years. My current due is
$240 something.

I seriously want to turn off everything and just play monopoly by candlelight.

Or other things....

So, I broke a key in the lock of a client's house today as the hungry dogs barked away inside. I've discovered that I shouldn't quit my day job to become a theif because I cannot jimmy a window open. Luckily, I was able to get the client on the phone and they remembered they have a set of laundry room key in the garage that, thandfully, wasn't locked. What a fricking nightmare!

Two months ago I was whining about a special promotion at work that was taking up all my time. It was supposed to be for January only but they decided to extend it through February. At the end of February they extended it through March. I now have 7 boxes (the big ones that hold copy paper) in my cube full of the related mail that we've received since about March 3. My supervisor has at least two boxes with mail from the first few days of March. That's all mail that we weren't able to process in March because we were too busy trying to catch up with February. This is all in addition to our regular work which generally fills up the day. We've been feeling a little shell-shocked but happy that March was just about over.

Last night before I left I got a forwarded e-mail indicating they were planning to extend the promotion into April. At this rate we will still be catching up on this thing in 2009.

Nice bill...
Mori... Honey... Get thee to a Home Depot.

Bulb replacement was my first step on this quest. Best I can figure I saved right at 24% from that one change alone.

They do cost more, but you don't have to replace them NEARLY as often.

$23.52 Last month was still cool enough not to need any AC.

And for you, the computer geek that you are, get a handle on how much your bricks (those little black power converters used to power low voltage equipment) are costing you. The one that powers my laptop uses juice even when the laptop is off (bad design). Many of these devices have this problem. TVs, too! I put them all together on one switched power strip in my office so I can turn them all off when I leave the house.

Okay, I know we can't turn off things that have clocks or that will need to be reset every time, but, as far as the computer goes, what can we turn off?

My mother, she has those power strips all over her house. She unplugs other things {microwave, toaster, etc.} and even the stove!!! {the clock, light, whatever}.

I have told the kids that all of their chargers constantly use juice {the ones left plugged in for phones, games} and all of the freakin' t.v.s etc. do also.

Lights. We have a light over our garage, it is one of those that turn on on their own {maybe flourescent, hologen? not sure}. We also had one in our back yard but when they put up rain gutters we had to take it down.

I have heard those big lights use up a lot of energy. But, unfortunately, this court has no lighting and none of the other neighbors use any lights. If we don't burn it, the court is pitch black. The city doesn't even keep the lights going. We've always kept lights going for family members coming and going.

This is all killing me.

They make compact flourescent flood lights, see if they will fit in the existing outdoor fixture.

I believe they are replacing a waterline to a pumping station, and OC is using more water than expected. The pumping station should be back online on saturday.
