| ohhhh baby | Yeah, that was weird. We only saw one I think, at 4pm (Small World was going off and it was hard to pay attention with the very loud jet up there). I thought someone like you might know why!

				            | Nick and I went to CALM today (California Living Museum). We has a nice stroll through the grounds. The animals I enjoy are all noturnal, so they were all snoozing. I did get to see a Bald Eagle up close, dang that is one big bird!!! We also got to see a couple of very large hawks (almost as big as the eagle). They seemed to be a nesting couple. I just wish I had thought to get some pics of the birds of prey area. After we got done we went to my in-laws to color eggs. One of his sister's asked if David would make it to dinner tomorrow. They all got real quiet when I said I hadn't talked to or seen him since Wednesday. |

				            | So every once in a while someone will ask me if I'm absolutely certain I don't want kids and my stock response is "I better be since I can't." But sometimes I do wonder. I've never yet had the urge but I wonder if it will hit me at some point ("better not, since I can't"). So anyway, I'm on the shuttle home from work yesterday and there is this woman with a kid sitting next to me. The kid isn't really misbehaving, just being a bit squirmy and whimpery. Then I realize I am thinking to myself "you know, now that I think about it, Children of Men doesn't seem so dystopian." In such unsheltered moments we see into our souls and I was reassured. |

				            | Alex, if you had asked me 11 years ago if I wanted a kid, I would have said no. I never saw myself being a mom. Heck, I was in denial for the first 3 months of my pregnancy. Now I can't imagine my life without him. For a long time after he was born I kept getting asked if I wanted more. My standard answer is, "Nope. There are no garuntees that another baby would be as good as he was." I just can't imagine starting over with diapers and the mess of a baby, not to mention the cost. |
