HI!
|
I have a great idea for Tomorrowland - I just don't know if I want to cart a bunch of crap. I've gotten pretty stealth with my camping supplies.

I hope that if we just show up and camp without decoration we will still be allowed to hang out. I promise to restrain myself from destroying the plastic flamingos
![]() To me, a tent, a campfire, and a sleeping bag are the images that evoke "camping", and that's what I want to experience. If my schedule allows me to go, that is. ![]()

I probably won't be there so my comments have approximately zero weight but keep in mind that all of the other people in the campground aren't looking to find Disneyland-in-the-Mountains.
Go too far and they'll find you more annoying than amusing. You don't want to end up in the pariah category with the people who leave their RV generators running all night. |

I'm kind of in the NA boat on this one. I was thinking more along the lines of candles and what-not. I tend to be a minimalist with goods (ie. Sleep outside instead of tent whenever possible), so I'm hoping to keep it that way.
![]() Plus, as Alex reminds us, we do have to be mindful of the other campers.

I'm not going all Disneyland with my camping decorations ... and it should be pointed out that camping decorations make no noise and - except for potential battery-powered xmas lights - won't be a visual nuisance either.
People coming to Dorst campground may be looking to get away from newscasts, traffic, and civilization ... but they have no reasonable expectation of getting away from people. There are 200 fairly close-together campsites there. I daresay, though we will attempt to be respectful of our neighbors, our group of 20 will be far more of a nuisance in general loudness of mirth than anything even possible via fun camp decorations. In any event, we have five consecutive campsites which span one entire stretch of a Loop, and no one is across from us. If we make our main social center towards the center of our fiefdom, and concentrate our decorations where we ourselves can enjoy them ... we will keep our noise pollution to a minimum and keep our decorations invisible to all but deer and bear. But don't feel you have to participate in decorating madness. We are out to have fun. And this is fun for some. Your milage may vary. |

Actually, you might all be spared the sight of our lawn flamingos - turns out we put them in storage, way in the back with the wedding decor. I don't think I'm that adventurous to pull 'em out just for this.

This sounds like fun, except for the strange decor ideas, and would be a good way to celebrate my birthday if I were in CA.

I had considered it, but pets can't (and shouldn't) be left unattended, and I thought having my dog along would really put a cramp in being able to do all the great side trips :ism: talked about.
