I'm starting to think I may end up at my aunt's house, depending on what's going on there. Fireworks are permitted in Costa Mesa, at least according to last year's rules - so I might go blow some stuff up there.
I'm still hoping something better comes along. I want to have some non-family time, considering how much time I've spent with both sides over the last couple of weeks.

Certain small cities in OC actually allow the sale of small scale fireworks, as long as they donate some of the profit to charity (I don't know the exact numbers). It's crazy, because in Garden Grove and elsewhere you'll see the fireworks booths spring up - at high schools. I'm not seeing it in Orange.
When we lived in Stanton, the local kids had their share of sparklers etc. It was pretty cool, though slightly frightening (I grew up without any of it). Now I want to see 1776 - never seen it.

From what I understand from a Costa Mesa resident ... they can sell fireworks in Costa Mesa, even though they are illegal to use in Costa Mesa.
How's that for logic?! |

Hmm, weird. I used them in Costa Mesa with no problems...
And now I've just looked up the City of Costa Mesa's website. Yes, you can light fireworks between 4 and 10 PM. Though I've seen them go off much later. Besides... who even starts lighting them until 9 with all that sunlight, anyway? Lame. ![]()

Yep! I remember being terrified to watch it as a little girl. It was always on KTLA channel 5. every July 4th.
Now, as an adult, it's one of my very favorite shows. It's also now on the Sci-Fi channel & they host the July 4th marathon. ![]() Oh how my ass longs to remain in bed all day & watch it! ![]() |

I hear ya. When it comes to hot dogs, I'm like MickeyLumbo at a pool party: It's all beef or nothing.

For those looking for a better alternative hot dog, check out this entry at Hungry Girl. I haven't tried the Hebrew Nationals yet, but I intend to soon.

Hebew Nationals are the only dogs my mom will buy. They are expensive, but totally worth every penny.

I don't know about during the day (nothing really planned yet) but at night I might be at the high school watching fireworks and directing traffic afterwards. Or I might be home, since my hubby is scheduled to fly out that night to Virginia.
