Bit of randomness. Story had nothing to do with what it might appear to be about, but I thought it was funny.

In other news, Big Lots has an electric fireplace for like $300 in their ad right now. Also, if anyone has been looking to acquire a chocolate fountain... $20.

Alert the landlord about the fireplace problem NOW. Smoke and other combustion gasses leaking in to your apartment from another tenant’s fireplace is an extremely dangerous situation! If they won’t act, call the fire department!

Oh, that's true! Noxious gases and all that. I would also get one of those alarms - they're like fire alarms but alert you to an abundance of noxious fumes.

That's actually a safety issue. You could get carbon monoxide poisoning. I would bring it to the attention of the landlord immediately and get a CO detector.

I think the smoke detector that is wired in is also CO detector, but I will confirm.

Happily, I always sleep with windows open, even when it's cold. But, better safe than dead and I do have my kitty to be concerned about!

We went over last night, and there was still a lot of patching and touch-up, and some floor trim not tacked down. Plus, we found a few other issues. So, we stashed our small load of stuff in the back closet, and then I made a list of all the issues, room-by-room. I went over there this morning, found the foreman, and did a walk-through with him. Turns out that he was happy I came over, because they wanted to finish up this morning, but don't have a key (only the investors and tenants have keys - maintenance is not allowed in without the tenant present... I like that policy). So, he knew about most stuff on the incredibly organized list, but didn't know about the others, so now it will get done.

I called the investment office, asking to be pro-rated for another day, but they decided to give us through the 15th instead, as a courtesy, since we've been very nice and patient about everything. They appreciate our friendliness, because they said that most people aren't like that.
