We had an impromptu LoT gathering at the El Cap, when the Mousepods and the LSPoorTom party bumped into each other at the same screening last night.

It was a delight! A complete delight. And the "experience" out back was worth it if only for the great "informational" display about the Disney references.

Spoiler:

I won't spoil many of the references for the people still planning to go to the El Cap, but I will say that a very close look at the Troll's costume is the damn funniest inside joke I've ever seen in a Disney movie. Actually, in ANY movie, ever. Also, Brad, Judy Kuhn (Pocahontas) was the woman with the brood of kids who says "you're ten years too late." Particularly funny since Pocahontas ran about ten years ago. There were some other, older actors and actresses (lesser-known ones) like one of the older dancing gentlemen, who was a chimney sweeper in Mary Poppins.

Yes, I agree with Brad that Amy Adams was exquisite - though we've been fans since Junebug. That transformation from naive waif to complex heroine was remarkable - I hope that she's nominated and that the "angry" scene is used as her example.

The rest of the cast was delightful, too. The characters from Andalasia really understood their archetypes and played on them wonderfully. Plus, the love story between Giselle and Robert was really believeable, I thought - she gave him music and lightness and spirit, he gave her actual, real emotion.

Some great one-lines in there. I laughed a lot, and when I wasn't laughing I was either smiling or thrilled by the action sequences.

Tom mentions that they missed a marketing opportunity - this is a great date movie.

If you're a Disney fan, you're the target audience. What are you doing online? Go see it!

I saw this movie last night with B. I laughed out loud numerous times. As we were leaving B asked "The princess is really good! What other movies has she been in?"

My answer "Nothing you can see yet." She insisted on movie names (again with the caveat that she couldn't watch them until she got older!) and I shared Junebug and Talledega Nights.

Spoiler:
So who was Paige O'Hara in the film?
We missed her cameo. Her character's name was "Angela," if that helps to I.D. her in any way.

Loved the movie. It was, no pun intended, completely Charming.

My fave bit was the clean-up the house song. Especially the "finale."

Yep, a certain great actress was completely underused. But other than that, a marvelously enjoyable movie.

Awful good stuff about the many cameos. I'm sure I missed most of them, so keep those cards and letters coming. Also anything about the El Cap stuff, since I'm not going to be making up there for this one.

Re your spoiler question, the Wikipedia page for Enchanted has this info, though personally I have no recollection of it:

Spoiler:
The soap opera shown on the television is a tribute to Beauty and the Beast: it stars Paige O'Hara, Belle's voice in Beauty and the Beast. The character she plays on the soap is named Angela, a tribute to Angela Lansbury. The other actor on the soap opera is named Jerry, a tribute to Jerry Orbach. The actors mention a third character named Ogden, a tribute to David Ogden Stiers. The background music for the show is the song Beauty and the Beast, and the set design is based on that film's bandaging scene.

One thing I did not understand...

Spoiler:
Towards the end, before Sarandon turns into the dragon, Edward is about to kiss Giselle. Sarandon's character casts a spell on Edward. Edward's face turns a green color and disappears. What did that spell do? Did the spell prevent him from waking her up? If so, it throws off the whole true love's kiss thing.
Did anyone else notice that?

Wow, I don't even remember that.

Does that mean I'll have to see Enchanted again??

Spoiler:
When she was casting this spell he froze up and couldn't move towards Giselle to kiss her. It was after a sword was pointed at her neck that she stop the spell and Edward was free to kiss is bride to be. So I think her spell was just to freeze him temporarily til it would be too late to revive Giselle.

I LOVE this movie !

I think Miss B and I will catch this at DTD if it's still running when we get there ....the park closes early a couple days we're there so it would be a great way to end the evening.
