Does everyone listen to Firefly Talk? In the most recent episode (#60, Dec. 22) we get to learn a little more about Shepherd Book's mysterious background.

If you've been listening to Firefly Talk and/or The Signal (or other similar podcasts) you're probably familiar with the constant questions Ron Glass gets asked at conventions and in interviews about Book's background. But since he never knew anything more about Book than what was in the scripts, he never had a satisfactory answer. So he asked Joss for more info and this is what Joss faxed over to him.

1. There will be a Dark Horse Comic released next year about Book called The Shepherd's Tale
2. A part of Shepherd Book is artificial
3. He found God in a bowl of soup
4. Book is best known for his greatest failure
5. "Derrial" is not his real name. He took that name from a man he killed.

Of course, these "answers" just bring up more questions. I'm looking forward to the comic.

I'm a tad late to the party, but I'm watching Firefly for the first time.

Initial impression: Damn space is crowded. They keep running into stuff everywhere......

The population density of their civilization must be astronomical.

I'm just a few episodes in, I'm sure it will take me a long long time to get caught up. What season are they on now?

After a few slow episodes, the series seems to be hitting it's stride with "Trash".

Firefly SR-71

Ice Planet.

Not surprisingly there are numerous pages on both of these.
