"doesn't recognize" as in "won't even learn it"? Bummer.

We've got the 880, purchased because it was the only universal remote I could find that has buttons that can't be munched by the bunny (4 remotes have had their buttons cleanly chomped off). Boy howdy do I love it.

Didn't know it. I tried to program the HD channels as favorites and it wouldn't save them because of the dash. Admittedly I didn't work on it very hard, though, since it really isn't that hard to press "5" and then "Channel up" to get to 5-1.

So, it may be possible to get it to work but I'm pretty sure "putting in effort" and "universal remote" are two concepts that don't belong in the same sentence.

I got a pack of 100 color(!) paper CD/DVD sleeves!

Yeah, we're broke, but it's okay. I made a nice breakfast for the family-folk that showed up, and used gift cards from my birthday for a few token presents for the kids. It worked to a degree.

I kinda miss money, but I'm not really unhappy. Weird.

It's a fairly simple process to get it to learn the button, made even simpler with the gui-based setup. You just point your old remote at the new remote, press the button you want to teach the new remote, and voila.

You already lost me. I didn't see anything in the manual about pointing old remotes at this one. But if I remember I'll look into it. So far the only reason I am watching HD channels is for football so the end of the season will soon make it a moot point (HD baseball is nice, I'm sure, but I prefer my baseball on the radio).

CP: Those single button presses are what kept Lani from leaving me for someone with a simpler set up.

If you were better in the sack, this wouldn't be an issue.
