As an aside... apparently there's a documentary called Helvetica. Yes, it's about the font. Now available on Netflix.

While it certainly has its place in history, this has to be the most boring font! Max Miedinger should be shot (if it weren't for the fact that he is already dead).

I am not sure you'd say that if you saw the documentary (which, to be fair, I have not seen - but I read an excellent article [on Slate, maybe?] that thrilled me without any video footage.) Though I know your area of expertise, so perhaps the documentary would leave you cold.

My comments are borne from my experience with bad typography. I might still be interested in the documentary, but I think the font is deadly fugly.
